National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a Federal Statutory Holiday made by Parliament on June 3, 2021. September 30th is the day that honours the lost children, the Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange shirt day both take place on September 30th.
The Canadian Government encourages all Canadians to wear orange to raise awareness of the tragic legacy of the residential schools and to honour the thousands of Survivors.
There are many public events that will take place during this time frame. In addition, it is important to be aware that there are Mental Health services available for former residential school students, they can call 1866-925-4419
