Message from Old English Soap Company

We make every one of our products on our farm site in the heart of the Sussex countryside, using the finest quality ingredients and traditional soap making methods we have used for the past 20 years. As a result, they are exceptionally high quality and long-lasting. They produce a richer lather and have a silkier, more luxurious effect on the skin.

Our soap and toiletry fragrances are made in England by expert perfumers and have been uniquely designed specifically for our products.

The English Soap Company soap bars are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free from parabens, SLS and SLES. The paper soap bar wraps are plastic-free, fully recyclable, and printed locally to reduce carbon footprint.

Benefits of shea butter

Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nuts of the shea tree, native to West Africa. Shea butter has been used as a cosmetic ingredient for centuries. Its high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids make it an excellent product for smoothing, soothing and conditioning your skin.

How does soap work?

The purpose of washing is to remove the outer layer of oils and fats that harbour germs and rinse them away from the skin. Soap is a surfactant which means that when used on the hands and body, the soap molecules bind water and oil molecules together. After cleansing with soap, rinsing away, the lather takes the oil and germs with it.
